Ely is to host Cambridgeshire’s first Yoga and Vegan Festival this June.
The festival, organised to mark an early celebration of World Yoga Day, will invite the county to get into the downward dog, child’s pose and a whole host of others – and enjoy some vegan treats along the way – on June 11.
Ely’s Paradise Centre will host the first ever festival, which will boast a host of yoga and meditation sessions, live music, stalls, workshops, Bollywood dancing and vegan and raw vegan food.
Kriti Sachdeva of Yogific, who are organising the festival, said: “Cambridgeshire is home to many talented yoga teachers, yoga schools and a thriving vegan community, so this festival gives one the opportunity to meet all them under one roof.
“Both yoga and veganism root for a peaceful and compassionate lifestyle. Yoga is not limited to just postures and veganism is not limited to just food.
“These events give a great platform to ethical small traders and start-ups to showcase their products and services to the public.
“All of our events are not-for-profit, as we donate the proceeds to partner charities.”
• Entry to the festival is £5, and tickets can be bought online at www.yogaveganfest.com. Yoga and meditations sessions are free. All proceeds will be donated to the Mayor of Ely’s charitable fund and Miracle’s Mission, which works for injured animals in South Asian countries.
