Motorist injured in two-vehicle smash

A motorist has been injured following a collision near Witchford.

East of England Ambulance crews were called to Grunty Fen Road shortly after 7am following reports that a car and a van had collided near the junction with Red Fen Road.

Police were called and the road was closed in both directions between Main Street and Broad Baulk.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service was also called to help free a man in his 60s, who was left in the care of ambulance crews. It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said recovery work was still ongoing at the scene at 9am.

A terrier which was one of two dogs dumped at a waste management site in Cambridgeshire was so emaciated she had to be put down, the RSPCA said, after appealing for witnesses to find the person who dumped them.
