A Littleport man had three teeth knocked out during a racially aggravated assault on Saturday evening.

The victim, who is in his 40s, said he was walking home when a gang of men began shouting racial abuse at him.

He was then robbed of his wallet and other personal belongings before being left badly injured without three teeth and unable to see out of one of eye.

The victim, who has lived in Littleport with his wife and children for five years, says he has been unable to work since the attack.

His wife said: “I’m finding it hard to function normally after the cowardly assault, but I have to stay strong for my husband and children.”

“In the five years we have lived here, we have never had a problem.”

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating a racially aggravated assault which took place on June 18 at about midnight.

“The victim, a man in his 40s, was in Parson’s Lane, Littleport when he was racially abused and assaulted by two men. The offenders punched the victim causing three of his teeth to break.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
