A man died after suffering a heart attack in a supermarket in Ely on Thursday.

The man was taken ill while shopping in Sainsbury’s, in Lisle Lane, shortly after 2.45pm. Police and ambulance crews attended.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene but sadly the man was declared dead.”

A police spokesman added: “We’re not treating the death as suspicious and passing over to the coroner.”
