Sainsbury’s Ely employee Josie Speck shaved her hair to raise money for the Liam Fairhurst Foundation on Friday.
Josie was especially keen to support the charity having lost her mum to cancer when she was just 12-years-old.
The head shaving took place at 2:30pm at the Sainsbury’s store in Lisle Lane, marking 10 years since Josie lost her mum.
Speaking after the event Josie said, “I am amazed at how much money has been raised through me shaving my head, I want to thank everyone who came to support me on Friday and to everyone who sponsored me”.
Josie, 22, managed to collect more than £800 from friends and colleagues supporting her in shaving her hair. Fundraising also took place in the store on Friday where shoppers were able to watch as Josie braved the clippers.
Sainsbury’s have now helped to raise more than £2,000 for the Liam Fairhurst Foundation. The Soham based charity was set up in 2011 and raises money to support children with cancer, disabilities and illness.
