Children waded on stilts through water and enjoyed a craft workshop as a slice of Fen history was brought to life at Ely museum.
They learned about some of the ways people got around when the fens were marshy, including by boat and on skates, as part Thursday’s Ely Museum’s Walking on Water – Historic Fen Transport event.
Assistant curator Sara Brown said: “It was a children’s drop-in event with activities. They tried on stilts to walk through shallow water and made bookmarks.
“We worked with the Fenland Museum Partnership, which runs an activity programme of exhibitions and events across the area.”
The museum’s next event takes place today and is titled Watery World, children’s crafts and activities with a rivers theme. It is for children aged five to 11 – children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are £3 and places limited. For more information and a full schedule of museum events, call 01353 666655 or visit www.elymuseum.org.uk
