Fenland charity that provides free short term help for people in their own home is now offering their support for seven days a week.

Care Network’s Help at Home service have extended their free short term practical help and emotional support service.

The Help at Home service established 18 years ago to provide police checked and trained volunteers who offer help to people discharged from hospital or unwell at home.

“The Help at Home service has been busier than ever this year with referrals up by over 50% on last year,” said Hilary Johnys, Direct Services Manager.

“We have responded to the needs of our clients and professionals to have the service available for seven days a week’.

“Our client feedback shows that almost 100% of those who answered thought we had helped them stay out of hospital.”

Professionals also like the flexibility and quick response of the service, she added.

Help at Home volunteers give help with tasks like shopping and collecting prescriptions and other practical jobs.

They can also provide emotional support to help build confidence for those who have been unwell and are concerned about doing a task or leaving the house on their own.

Anyone who needs the service, or would like to volunteer, should call us on 01223 714433.

Help at Home is funded by Cambridgeshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the Big Lottery.
