Sainsbury’s has announced that Littleport charity Branching Out will receive a year’s worth of fund-raising and awareness support.
The charity, that supports adults with learning disabilities, will be the new local charity partner for the Ely branch.
To celebrate the announcement, colleagues were given a tour of Branching Out’s main site in Grange Lane, Littleport.
The store team will now be fundraising for the new charity by holding a various activities throughout the next year.
The Ely store, in Lisle Lane, has had great success in supporting previous local charities and last year raised £5,460 for Liam Fairhurst Foundation.
Customers had a say in this year’s announcement and voted in-store and online in June. The store colleagues then decided that Branching Out were the best charity for them to work with to make a real difference.
Susan Wiggans from Branching Out said: “We know the success that the local charity partnership has bought to many charities in the area, so when we received the news, we were thrilled.
“We hope the partnership will help raise awareness of our cause to the store’s customers and will help us develop the important service we provide to the community.”
