Explorer Scouts from Ely visited officers and toured Ely police station at Nutholt Lane last night (Wednesday March 28).

Two units of the explorers joined officers in their conference room and received a talk on cyber safety and staying safe online.

Following the question and answers session the explorers, aged 13 to 16, had the opportunity for ‘selfies’ in a police helmet.

The whole group had a team photo, and one new explorer was invested in the vehicle yard before everyone had the chance to look at the police cars.

Sergeant Phil Priestley said: “They are a really great group of young people and we are very keen to welcome young members of our community into our police station.

“We are working in lots of ways to build bridges with young communities and it is really important that young people feel valued and listened to.”

“Ely police station remains a full time (24/7) response station for policing East Cambridgeshire. “For this reason we cannot always accommodate requests for visits and tours.

“Anyone who is interested in arranging an opportunity should contact Ely police station and request either sergeant Phil Priestley or sergeant Mark Rabel.”
