Rainbow of runners join Ely’s third colour dash fundraiser for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices

Hundreds of runners were showered by an explosion of colour in Ely at the weekend - all for a good cause.

The grounds of King’s Ely school were transformed into a rainbow as children and adults took part in the third Ely Colour Dash in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) .

Getting showered with clouds of coloured powder along the 5km route, one person who took part said: “Great event very well organised. See you next year.”

Polly West, EACH Cambridgeshire community fundraiser, said: “The sun shone for our third colour dash in Ely and it was great to see some 400 people of all generations walking through Ely covered head-to-toe in paint and with smiles on their faces.

“We haven’t counted up yet, but we hope this event has raised around £15,000.

“All the money will go towards the vital care and support EACH provides for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and their families.

“Our thanks to everyone who volunteered, ensuring the colour dash was a success.

“Our attentions now turn to open air cinemas we’re hosting in Cherry Hinton and Huntingdon on September 8 and 15 respectively. The film at both will be The Greatest Showman.
