Ely stroke support group Pos+Ability has secured its future for another six months thanks to a donation from Tesco’s Charity Trust.

The group applied to the trust for £840 to cover its rent for the next six months at the Paradise Centre, in Ely, and the Recreation Centre in Histon.

And, on Thursday, group supporters gathered at Tesco’s store in Ely to receive a cheque from community champion Breda Walton and personnel manager Alex King.

Pos+Ability sessions offer chair-based exercise, help with memory and cognitive skills, balance and resistance work, mobility maintenance and communication and conversation support.

Sessions are held at the Paradise Centre on Thursdays from 10am-noon, or in Histon on Mondays from 11.30am-1.30pm.

Tesco’s charity trust is open to national and local charities and enables groups to apply for funding of £500-£4,000. Cash is handed out twice a year and can be used for anything from new equipment to covering hall hire costs.
