Undefeated in his previous 21 fights Chatteris boxer Jordan Gill claimed the Commonwealth featherweight title last night at the Copper Box Arena, London.

Gill put on an impressive performance taking the win in round 7 against the previous title holder Ryan Doyle,

The fight was streamed live on Sky Sports to thousands of viewers.

Jordan entered the ring first to the sound of Michael Jackson Thriller. He was wearing white, red and gold.

The audience inside the stadium screamed Jordan’s name.

Jordan enjoyed a confident first round backing Doyle into a corner before the pair were broken up by the referee.

Gill was consistent through to round 6 and then in round 7 his lethal left hook finished off Doyle crowning him the new Commonwealth title holder.

His trainer Dave Coldwell said before the match: “These are the nights that Jordan has been crying out for.

“He’s been at my gym quite a while now and things are finally starting to fall into place for him. He’s got so much ability and I’m so happy that he’s finally going to get the chance to show people what he’s about.”

Tonight that confidence – and the support of fans across the Fens and the country – was rewarded in spectacular fashion.

Sky Sports summed up the final moments of the match reporting how “stabbing out a swift jab, Gill quickly seized control of the contest early on, bouncing in and out of range with quick feet to catch Doyle, nicknamed ‘Ruthless’, with some slick combinations”.
