A week long celebration of business – with up to 130 firms being represented- was drawing to an end today at Ely Cathedral.

Keynote speeches were being delivered by Lord Williams -Master of Magdalene College Cambridge, and former Archbishop of Canterbury – on the theme “What is wealth for?”

Also sharing his thoughts with an invited audience was Lord Wolfson, chief executive of Next PLC entitled “Wealth – creation, destruction or stagnation. A choice.”

The keynote speeches mark the culmination of the week long Celebration of Business Exhibition.

This afternoon there was a thanksgiving service and celebration of business, industry and commerce and the commissioning of workplace chaplains.

Ely Cathedral Business Group believes that there is a strong correlation between the health of the business sector, and the well being of the communities in which those businesses operate.

Their spokesman said: “The purpose of ECBG is to explore this relationship and to strengthen the correlation: to help businesses succeed and thereby make our communities stronger

“In pursuit of ECBG’s aims to encourage the relationship between businesses and the wider community, companies have been invited to promote themselves free of charge, at the exhibition.

“Businesses of all sizes from sole trader through to multi-nationals have rubbed shoulders for a week and business people have had the opportunity to meet and to learn from each other.”
