Artisan coffee company Paddy & Scott’s has developed its own smartphone app which it claims will revolutionise the way consumers order coffee to go.
The “Bean Counter” app, designed to offer a more time-efficient way of ordering and paying for coffee and associated products, will be initially be used in Paddy & Scott’s owned and operated sites before beiing rolled out more widely.
It will allow customers to pre-order from the same in-store menu and pay wirelessly from a pre-registered credit card.
The app also includes a “Bean Points” loyalty scheme, with each purchase earning points which can be collected towards free coffee or food or donated to Paddy & Scott’s Bean 2 School Foundation which supports education and training for young people in coffee-producing regions.
The company estimates that the app could increase takings by an average of 22% through better queue management as well as allowing it to engage with consumers in new ways and to create special offers that are matched automatically to customers by Bluetooth technology as they enter the shop
Co-founder Scott Russell said: “We believe that this app is the future of coffee retail sales. It will revolutionise the way that consumers order and pay for their coffee and give them back an extra 10 minutes to concentrate on the daily hustle.
“This innovation also enables us to communicate with them on a personal level, whilst still leaving them in control and, in essence, bringing the coffee to them.”
