AN early morning police chase across part of the Fens ended with a stinger device being used to stop a car and a 15 year-old boy being arrested.
Police revealed the chase began at around 1.30am on Tuesday when officers came up behind a Peugeot at Begdale near Wisbech.
“When they attempted to stop it the car made off at high speed,” said Chief Inspector Mike Winters, Fenland police commander.
“A managed pursuit was commenced and the vehicle followed into Cromwell Road, Wisbech, where a stinger device was used to stop it.”
He said the driver was arrested and found to have taken the car without consent.
The boy has now been charged with
• Aggravated vehicle taking
• Dangerous driving
• No driving license
• Failing to stop for a police officer
• Driving without insurance.
Chief Insp Winters said the car was damaged in the pursuit and has been recovered and it is waiting for the owner to collect it.
