The incident has happened near the turning into what is known locally as the ‘Tesco roundabout’ on the A141 on the outskirts of the town.

Many motorists have been forced to stop and are using social media to question how long the delays can be expected.

The lorry can has landed the right way and with only the trailer on its side – it is thought the driver has escaped without serious injury.

One motorist said the problem is that drivers can only turn left into Turves village from the A141 from Chatteris direction and no other diversions have yet been put in place.

An ambulance is on the scene and police are expected shortly.
