Sessions House was recently taken over by a rogue's gallery of talented types from Visit Ely.

On a night filled with a mix of raucous laughter, amazement, historical intrigue and stellar acting, those souls brave enough to join the Visit Ely team were treated to the second run of 'Trials of Terror'.

The event was an immersive theatrical experience bringing three trials previously tried at Sessions House to life once again.

These colourful characters revealed the fate of John Rolfe, a poacher turned cold-blooded murderer, a suspicious sexton who was accused of body snatching and a woman, accused of witchcraft.

The entire cast sought to entertain and educate and the resounding response from the audience was that it had been done with the right mix of mirth and respect when considering the subject matter.

“We are utterly thrilled to bring the Sessions House to life with our brilliant cast who in some cases took on multiple roles," said Anna Bennett, tourism and town centre manager at Visit Ely.

“For many, it was only their second performance and completely out of their comfort zone.

“With the success that we have achieved, the Visit Ely Rogue’s Gallery has once again been summoned to stand, sit and shuffle before the judge in September and we hope you’ll join us."

Work has begun on the next three cases to be tried, with only scant details being leaked which are as follows: arson, poison and highway robbery.

"A special note of thanks goes to Ely Museum, who kindly loaned the judge his wig and the poacher his murder weapon," she added.

'More Trials of Terror at Sessions House’ will return on September 20 and the box office for this immersive, unique and entertaining event will open on Monday April 29 at www.olivercromwellshouse.co.uk

"Keep an eye out on all social media channels for updates," Anna added.
