Littleport loves music, laughter, and bikes.

Now, Littleport’s Brass Band is still going strong roughly 150 years from when it started.

And, apart from giving concerts regularly in the town, they compete in contests around the UK.

Last Sunday, this fantastic band achieved 'best bass section' plus overall sixth place in the Stevenage Area Contest.

Always first in Littleport’s hearts, they rehearse in their own band room behind the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club, so not as far to travel on May 12 when they perform in the club from 3-5pm.

And their seriously efficient conductor Ian Johnson injects real humour into his compering.

The club itself has an annual musical (and dancing) events calendar, and this weekend, March 23, it’s live music and comedy duo Bookem and Riskit.

There's also Ely resident Perry on percussion and Keith on guitar singing and playing songs from the 60’s and 70’s and cracking jokes.

Old uns are good uns I say. To book ‘em and risk it call 07977145089.

On Sunday 24, it’s the Easter family disco, from 4-7pm. £2 for everyone includes chips and chocolate for kids, fun and games while their adults can have a pleasant drink at the bar.

The Crown Inn also has a packed calendar of entertainment and this Saturday night, March 23, The Phat Controllers perform live reggae, soul and rock.

The Plough and Harrow is popular, too, as is the Swan – a boutique hostelry by the river with mooring.

As befits the spiritual home of the Harley Davidson - the memorial sculpture opposite St George’s church commemorates William Sylvester Harley, whose parents left here for America - on the fourth Friday of every month starting March 22, the Crown Inn will be the place to be for bikers.

Lanterns MCC host the first bike night – there’s stone baked pizza and everyone is welcome whatever you ride from 7pm, off road parking CB6 1PJ.

Lanterns are collecting your Easter egg donations (by March 24) for Little Miracles children’s charity in Ely for delivery before Easter. Please drop eggs off at The Crown during opening hours.
