A community dance school which has a variety of classes across East Cambridgeshire is marking its 10-year anniversary.
Horizons Dance Academy, which has classes in Ely, Littleport, Wicken and Fulbourn, started the celebrations with two ‘wonderful’ show days this Spring.
The shows brought everyone together and highlighted the ‘amazing’ amounts of positivity and support within the dance community that is at the heart of the school’s ethos.
Everyone pulled together as a team, including the volunteers backstage, teachers, the families and of course, the dancers.
Horizons Dance Academy passionately promotes kindness, positivity and inclusivity, encouraging all to create a supportive atmosphere for young dancers.
A spokesperson for Horizons Dance Academy said: “Our focus at Horizons Academy has always been to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for dancers of all ages and abilities.
“Over the past 10 years, the team and school has grown significantly, but key values remain the same.”
To further mark the anniversary, a new head girl, Ellie-May, was introduced to the school.
Ellie-May was chosen because of her ‘incredible’ amounts of positivity and energy in class as well as her commitment to dance.
The school believes she is an ‘exceptional’ role model to her younger students.
The spokesperson added: “These dancers did an absolutely amazing job showcasing their work and talents, and the support, kindness and teamwork backstage was equally as magical as the shows.
“We hope to continue to be a place where children not only learn to dance, but to also build confidence and self-belief, meet new friends and come away with a sense of achievement and a growing enthusiasm for dance and theatre.”
