Littleport is looking forward to Easter weekend.

And the hard-working fun-loving residents are not mean either when it comes to spreading a bit of that hard work and fun around to other places!

A few of Littleport’s park-runners will be helping out at the Ely Country junior parkrun event on Easter Sunday morning – Fiona Deem, Clive Baker, Colin Leonard, Maria Leonard and Cathy Gibb-de Swarte.

Dressed as Bonny the Bunny, Cathy will be tail walking, generally clowning around and helping dish out the Easter eggs at the finish of the 2k.

Another example is senior member of the community, 94-year-old Neville Lawrence, who started out in life odd-jobbing on a farm and climbed the ladder of success through hard work and determination.

He represented his hometown in literally many a foreign field, selling and demonstrating farm machinery for his employers, Standen’s, based in Littleport.

His splendid book about his adventures, ‘What to do Next?’, is being sold at the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club, for £15. After expenses, proceeds go to the Royal British Legion.

You could say Littleport will enjoy an Easter trip to Jamaica via Birmingham on Saturday night, when the club has UB40 tribute band Two in Ten playing reggae and ska!

Then on Easter Sunday, it’s the intercity family disco, with kids’ fun and games between 4-7pm [£2]; parents can relax at the bar!

Saturday night, 8.30pm until late, popular hostelry the Crown Inn presents Kill Me Kate, billed as country and classic rock.

Last week, their casino night raised £870 for Littleport Town Football Club who play their home games at Littleport Leisure Centre.

On Saturday the centre is holding a youngsters Easter fun skate from 9.15-10.45am. £3.50 to enter; £1 to hire skates.
