As the entertainments manager of the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club and DJ in his ‘spare time’ Derek Timbers says... “Littleport loves a right good knees-up – and especially when it’s for a good cause!” 

And on Saturday, March 25 at the Club from 7pm until late, there is the chance to do just that at the DM Roadshow Disco. 

One of Littleport’s fire station crew, Tom Bridge-Street, is running the London Marathon in full 15-20kg kit with breathing apparatus strapped to his back, in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.  

And the proceeds from the event on Saturday will add to the final amount; entry £5 adults, under 15s £2. 

Running for fun, and on occasions running for charity, Littleport’s parkrunning enthusiasts gather every Saturday morning outside the Littleport Leisure Centre. 

They gather for a 9am start for their 5k, after which they can get refreshments and socialise in the café area. 

The place is buzzing as the Ely Roller Skating Club hosts the children’s and young people’s fun skate from 9.15-10.45am – skate hire £1, entry £3.50. 

The leisure centre has activities on offer to suit every age, ability and taste. 

For instance, expert body conditioning, weights and cardio trainer Anna Slee takes a music and movement morning on Thursdays, 10.30-11.30am.  

And as she says: “More mature residents. can enjoy gentle dance exercises, standing and seated, in a fun, easy-going and sociable atmosphere.” £4 with a tea or coffee included!

The newly built Youth and Community Centre in Cornfield Lane, home to ThePort youth group on Wednesday nights, has a new initiative by Sam Sydall.
