Why has East Cambs District Council invoked council tax increase when many others have frozen theirs?

I NOTED with interest your article regarding the two per cent increase in council tax for 2013/14.

I would have thought, however, you could have covered the following points.

Why, for the second year running, has East Cambridgeshire District Council invoked the two per cent increase when other councils throughout the country have frozen theirs during the same period?

Why has the increase been limited to two per cent? I presume this is because the addition of a single percentage point would have invoked the need to have a referendum on any increase. Obviously something council leader Peter Moakes and co wanted to avoid.

I hope this, and their stance on car parking charges, will be remembered when Cllr Moakes and his cohort come up for re-election.
